INFORMATION LITERACY IN THE ERA OF FAKE NEWS
Concord Community Center
Instructor – Morley Library Staff
Have you ever wondered how fake news stories get started? Would you like to know how to identify them? Lakeland librarians, Thomas Hyland and Megan Mamolen, will examine how the “fake news” phenomenon has impacted the current information environment. They will explore how and why fake news stories are created and promulgated via social media and the web, dissect actual fake news stories, and discuss strategies for identifying and analyzing an information source to determine its credibility. Come for a lively discussion of what it means to be information literate in the era of fake news.
Tuesday, November 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
FREE, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
