FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  WILLIAMS ROAD TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE IN CONCORD TOWNSHIP – UPDATE

Lake County Engineer, James R. Gills, PE,PS issued an update today for the road closure on Williams Road  in Concord Township between Cascade Road and approximately 0.4 miles north of SR 608.

With financial assistance from the Lake County Commissioners, the Lake County Engineer has entered into an agreement with Great Lakes Construction to construct a retaining wall, install guardrail and temporary pavement in the area of the slope failure.  Weather permitting, the Contractor will begin mobilizing on Monday, October 9, 2023.  The substantial completion date for the road to be re-opened to through traffic is late December 2023.

Due to the timing of the start date, asphalt will not be available when the wall is complete.  Therefore, concrete will be placed so that the road can be re-opened to traffic as soon as possible.  Asphalt paving and new guardrail installation on the west side of Williams Road will be completed in the spring once the asphalt plants re-open for the 2024 construction season.

The existing posted detour will remain in place:

Posted Detour:  Huntoon Rd to SR 86 to Girdled Rd to SR 608

Drivers and pedestrians should not enter the work zone or drive around and/or move the barricades to gain access.
