American Mah Jongg
Instructor Laura Goodban
Laura Goodban has played Mah Jongg at the Concord Community Center since 2013, and has taught several classes there. Mah Jongg is a Chinese game that uses rectangular tiles with painted symbols, numbers, and pictures. Racks and pushers help hold and move the tiles. The purpose of the game is to complete one of about 50 hands designated yearly on the “Official Standard Hands and Rules Card.” Purchase this card from the instructor for $9. The first class will be basic instructions in person at the Center around a large round table wearing masks. The next four classes will be playing online ($5/month charge for this online account). Though we won’t be actually playing with tiles, we will be learning how to play, make the hands to win, and strategize. We can communicate while we play using a conference call.
This 5-session class is offered Tuesdays Sept.15-Oct. 13 and Oct 27-Nov. 24 from 2-4p.
RESIDENT FEE: $20 * NON-RESIDENT FEE $25
