AT LAKELAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

The Lake County OSU Extension and the Lake County Master Gardeners are hosting a gardening workshop at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio on Saturday, March 10. Preregistration cost of the workshop is $48, and attendees can register until February 28, 2017. Those who register by February 14 will be entered for a drawing to win a Pollinator Garden donated by Bluestone Perennials. If available, a limited number of registrations will be offered at the door on the day of the event for $55. Doors open at 8:00 am and the last session ends at 3:30 pm. A total of 12 sessions will be offered in four time slots. The program includes continental breakfast, lunch, handouts, refreshments, and a gift. Vendors will also be offering garden-related items for sale.

The theme for this year’s event is “Come Grow with Us.” Workshop sessions will include topics related to annuals, perennials, woody ornamentals, evergreens, herbs, succulents, and rain gardens. Attendees will learn gardening tips from professionals on using native plants in the landscape, butterfly gardening, landscape design, invasive plants, and best practices for both flower and vegetable gardens. Controlling insects organically, a tour of the Chelsea Garden Show, landscaping for Lake Erie, and the 20 plants that changed the world are some of the other topics on the schedule. Individuals can select the sessions of their choice.
